Occasionally, the sun sets and the sky comes to life and lights everything in colours, shades and hues of orange, yellow and gold. In moments it is often gone. I just happened to be sitting, waiting at a set of traffic lights on this occasion and had only moments before the lights changed. Loxley is...

Contact us.I first picked up a camera over sixty years ago and a lot has changed since then – on both sides of the lens! I’ve always been fascinated by people, so for a lot of years I've been a documentarian, a subject that delights me but I’ve gradually refocused on the less tangible elements of light, shade and texture – the complex but more subtle relationships that are changing and evolving moment by moment. Fleeting changes are opportunities to catch passing magic in the natural or more personal landscape – there’s a argument to be made that a picture as essentially an arrangement of shapes and tones and it’s the relationships of those shapes and tones that interest the viewer. Some of my favourite work is bordering on the abstract. If you include people, of course, the entire scene is overtaken by the inner worlds of those involved.
At different times, I become fascinated by a new viewpoint: the juxtaposition of different spaces afforded by the presence of reflections, for instance. Or the way that the relationships between different elements in a landscape change as the light decreases after sunset. Recently, I’ve happened upon some publicly available facts that have shocked me and I’ve been moved to use images to interpret them in a visual way that might communicate to a wider audience; this is opening new possibilities for visual communication and connection that are completely different and proving to be an exciting exploration.
