King of (in)significance - Limited Edition 5 of 10 Photograph

Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Philippines is quickly rising as a center of development in the capital. BGC, as it is more commonly known, is the face of the developing Philippines. But behind every towering building are the unsung heroes who build them - the "Kings of (in)significance". If you look closely in the photo, you will see a man standing above the unfinished building, like a king who watches his kingdom being built. I deliberately printed a small photo (2.5 in x 4.5 in), and framed it in 13.5 in by 15.5 black wooden frame to make the viewer feel the immensity of the creation and the seeming "insignificance" of the builder. With this imagery, I am trying to evoke a universal human longing to become significant in a world where everything has been thought of, has been created, and has been done - an emotional journey I personally go through as an artist. I hope that with this work, I inspire an "awakening" in the viewer, in whatever form it takes. But more importantly, this is also my ode to the builders of the nation - to the Kings of Significance.
