ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was very surprised by the traditional Japanese clothes on the streets Kyoto. The obi kimono or yukata combinations are a thoughtful composition with deep symbolic deviation or just aesthetic choices in traditional costume rental shops. Sometimes I happened to see private costumes with delightful colours. Those taken out for special occasions, perfectly arranged, delighted me especially. ‘Kyoto streets_01’ is a part of a series of portraits inspired by texture, fabric and movement. The hand gestures and the composition of fabric, colour, pattern creates an image of a person’s character.

I’m an art historian and art teacher with 30 years of experience in amateur photography. I started with classic photography and worked in a darkroom. I worked for the National Museum in Warsaw for the last 9 years. As a volunteer I photographed museum events, exhibitions and exhibition preparations. I’m interested in detail, colour, texture combinations, light and shadow. I’m still looking for perfect shots.
