About The Artwork

The artwork is sell with the frame. Total size : 69 x 47 cm The journey of our loves We could have fallen in love on the same platform, on the same train, in the same carriage... We could have followed the same horizon. Watch it sway. Watching it stabilize in the landscape as it passes amidst the flowers that soar and refine. The flowers embracing their stems. . But the seat next to me is empty. We could have been on the same train. It was almost, almost. It was almost... All it would have taken... To begin the journey of our love. We could have flown away on that train. We could have been and let life guide us. Maybe we would have gotten off at an unscheduled stop? We would have lost our way just a little. Just like that, lightly. And then there would have been those moments when everything shifts and speeds up. We would have held on to each other even tighter. Without a doubt, "we could have" would have been what we had been. But maybe one day we'll find ourselves on the same train. I keep thinking that one day you'll join me, Waiting for you, I sit window-side.

Jessica Décembre was born in Montreuil (France) in 1984. She spent her childhood at Clos Saint Lazare in Stains. Today she lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Jessica studied at the Beaux Arts in Le Mans, but continued her studies at a distance to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Jessica's photographic work is rooted in her childhood. A memory of Wednesday afternoons spent with her great-grandmother looking through old photo albums. People in black and white whom Jessica would never know, but who had an air of resemblance to familiar strangers. One by one, her great-grandmother would introduce her to "her dearly departed". There was something intense and precious about the moment they shared. Jessica Décembre explores photographic techniques (photograms, cyanotypes, polaroids...) to create her close acquaintances. These different techniques enable her to prolong this gentle intimacy.
