Lines Made by Folding Photograph - Limited Edition of 1

I Design and I make Art. The relationship between these two disciplines, the tension between expression and utilitarian usage in Art & Design, I find exciting. When I'm designing it is to aid communication. When I create Art it is to express ideas that I cannot with the written word. This is not because I am a poor writer, rather it is because I feel that language lets me (us) down on so many levels. My Artworks are visual representations of moments, memories and thoughts (some real, some fictitious) that need more attention than the normal 'passing of time' gives. To do this I work in a range of media such as Film, Object and Image. I am primarily interested in how these elements translate online. This is what this site is for. The Internet is "˜designed' for content and navigation but can it hold Artwork as "˜form'? The World Wide Web is exploited by artists as a portfolio but rarely is the "˜actual' artwork viewed in its primary medium. I create Artwork that is first and foremost displayed on a Web page with the potential of "˜exhibiting' in the analogue world as a secondary opportunity. I expand this secondary opportunity in real spaces by presenting "˜evidence articles'. My Design work is all about the 'Delete' key. The message is more important than the medium. I want design work to be beautiful but only if it delivers the message. When the message is delivered effectively and in the best aesthetic form this is when Design and Art meet.
