About The Artwork

This is an image in a series of 1 of 4 that visualize the entity that takes over our body during an addiction to drugs, known as lizard brain. Lizard brain" refers to the oldest part of the brain, the brain stem, responsible for primitive survival instincts such as aggression and fear ("flight or fight"), whereas the limbic system is responsible for, among other things, our emotional bonding to other creatures--other humans such as family members and friends. The process used for the print is a collodion chloride print, which is the worlds most archival silver based print in existence. What makes it so stable is that the silver particle is hermetically sealed in nitrocellulose on baryta paper. The capture is made on glass using the dry collodion negative method and contact printed in the sun.
