About The Artwork

I have always loved taking photos in the calmness of the fog or mist. There is something therapeutic and meditative about the way the fog shrouds the landscape into mystic dreamscapes. Creating an atmospheric high-key dreamworld, warping the perspective by isolating objects, almost removing them from their environment. It can make objects appear far away that in reality are very close by as it makes the view flat and two-dimensional. Also, fog and mist always reminds me of Scandinavian folklore stories and fairytales - probably because of the pencil illustrations in the story books I grew up with in Norway - like the ones by Theodor Kittelsen illustrating the collections of folktales collected by Asbjørnsen & Moe. This capture is from a morning cycle-ride down along the Thames Path in South East London. I kept stopping so much to admire the foggy scenery that what was supposed to be a quick 15 minute ride became a much longer 2 1/2 hours trip. This was a bit of a rare occasion when the morning fog didn't dissipate until well past midday, so I took full advantage of it. The fog was creating a minimalist and almost abstract scene with some detail breaking up the white-out. Everything else just disappear into nothingness save a few seagulls and banks of sand - and then it's the all too typical discarded shopping-trolley stuck in the mud. A signed print from a limited edition of 25. Printed with a white border to accommodate framing/mounting and the signature - the actual size of the printed image is 57.0 x 149.4 cm. Should you have any questions about any of my artworks, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via my website ("globe" button under my profile photo). Also, if you would like to get updates about new artworks you can also click the “Follow” button on my profile. Beautifully Giclée printed on Hahnemuhle Pearl paper - a slightly textured 285 gsm. semi-gloss paper which holds more detail with punchier colours than a matt paper, whilst maintaining a illustrative/ painted feel. Technology: Epson UltraChrome HDR Wide Gamut Inks with archival life expectancy: 40 years daylight, 200 years in dark. All prints are professionally printed to ensure the absolute best quality and consistency. I pride myself in strict quality control, hence I only use top professional printers based here in London, that I am content use very strict colour consistency checks and use the very best of printing techniques available. This of course greatly increases production costs, but give me and my customers the peace of mind that I deliver a supreme quality artwork.

I am a freelance photographer based in London. I enjoy a big love for travelling, which not only takes me around the world – with many great new images as a result – it's also a continuing source of inspiration which influences and feeds my passion for photography. With a background that started with drawing and illustration, which in turn lead to graphic design I believe the foundation of the way I compose my captures is very much affected by this. I often look for very graphic compositions with strong lines, large areas of strong colour, negative space and pushing the boundaries of traditional rules of composition. There is also a different approach to the way I like capturing my images when it comes to more travel reportage images. Still looking to isolate my subject, either by using shallow focus, leading lines, concentrating of light, picking out splashes of colour, and other techniques. Most images are very much as a spectator, fly on the wall if you like - I generally don't like posed images. I feel I get a truer picture when I don't interfere, but also I'm not hiding in the distance with a tele-lens - I like to be close to my subjects in plain sight.
