Lost Memories #5 - Limited Edition of 10 Photograph

Memories often tend to disappear. Without warning, without a trace. They are quite difficult to restore, and even then they are distorted, transformed, unfaithful to the original. There is simply no telling if what we remember is the truth, or just our interpretation that has been altered with time. In my project "Lost Memories" I try to tackle the problem of forgetting. I was reluctant to revisit the places I remembered from my childhood; I was afraid that they have changed throughout all the years when I was away, that what I had in my head was just a creation of my imagination. I have changed my mind after my grandmother has been robbed. The stress she experienced was so great that her memory was affected. She could not remember many, many things from her past. It was the lack of possibility to remember that terrified me the most. The fact that something like this can happen to me. I'm terrified of forgetting. When sharing my work, immortalizing my memories on paper, allowing you to partake in my experience, I assure myself that my memories, which are the basis of my identity, will not fall apart. *** This is a limited edition of 10 prints in size 120 cm by 80 cm that are printed digitally on an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 on Ilford Galerie Gold Cotton 330g paper, which can be either smooth or textured.
