About The Artwork

Triste histoire. It was like in my memories or at least in my imagination at Raimu. It was a beggar who officially officiated in the same cathedral church of Adele in Toulon. Raimu remains remembered for his interpretation of Caesar in the "Marseille trilogy": Marius, Fanny and Caesar, and the baker deceived in La Femme du boulanger. Sad story : On March 11, 1946, Raimu drove on the Nationale 7, which was then the axis Paris-Mediterranean, to go to Monte Carlo. Around Mâcon, an accident occurs and Raimu is left with multiple fractures. Return by ambulance to Paris, where he is operated urgently. He left clinic on Sunday, May 6, 1946, after 54 very long days. But he must return to the American Hospital of Paris for a new surgery, apparently benign, in order to cure the complications of the fracture of the tibia caused in this road accident in March 1946. He died in the operating room on September 20, 1946 of a heart attack, probably a white syncope caused by an allergy to an anesthetic. Very sad story.
