"Man in nature" 1978, Bay of San Agustín, Huatulco bays, Oaxaca. In 1978 I returned to the Bahías de Huatulco in search of coastlines able to visualize other worlds. This was long before tourism and the bays still radiated a pristine, solitary beauty. On the shore of San Agustín, the largest and most spectacular bay, "Manuel Camote", a hunter-fisherman had built his hut after abandoning his native village where he had killed a guy, who used to bully him. Living alone in nature he evolved into a self-taught philosopher. “The important thing is the idea you carry in your head”, he used to say. Self-sufficient and far away from people money meant nothing to him. I stayed a few days with him sleeping in his small dugout on the beach, which he used to fish in the bay and sometimes rowed out into the mighty waves of the Pacific Ocean. Two of my best “Of other worlds” pictures with the spectacular sculpted rock Punta Sacrificios were shot from his dugout. The 56 cm print comes in a limited edition of 9. Title, author and year of manufacture are included on the print. The print comes with a 2 cm white border. Made to order on archival cotton paper in 10 days plus shipping.
