Der günstige Kaufpreis litt somit sehr schnell unter den immensen Kosten für die Werkstatt. Dennoch war es ein wunderschönes Design und ein nobles Sportcoupé mit allem drann und drin! Der aufgeladene & Zylinder mit 1996 ccm Hubraum fuhr bis zu 215 km/h schnell, einige Varianten bis ca. 260 km/h. War sehr gediegen ausgestattet und es gab Varianten vom Coupé, Spyder (Cabriolet) und Biturbo S. Mit dem Maserati 222 kam dann ein Facelift und wiederum zahlreiche Varianten. Produktionsbeginn war 1981 und 1993 war endgültig Schluss, dann kam der Maserati Ghibli.
