About The Artwork

This is part of my connecting the matriarchy, using fibers and fabric the artists had discarded, I recreated folds and paint and draping. This explores our the feminine is supposed to look, drapes an adornment, yet she is full of power, colour, and magesty. using this actual sculptural painting I then took photos of the work, which gave it a more renaissance look and created a female connection to nature, that became primal.

Being brought up in England has influenced much of my artwork and life experiences, and this is translated into my research and practice. Training later in life at Farnham University for the creative arts and Glasgow School of Art for a BA and a Master’s in contemporary fine arts, my work has been shown at all levels, and have pieces in several collections around the world. My Arts practice spans drawing, painting, and sculpture and is centered around the fluidity of life and humanity within our landscape, industry, and ecology and how we experience them through the female gaze. I develop narratives that offer visual autobiographies; articulating images of mind, body, and earth. My interest is in how fragmented imagery, objects, memory, and nature correspond to the quality of thought and imagination. I am a co-instigator of www.haus-a-rest.com an online art zine where we bring like-minded artists together, here we shine a light on new and established artists, writers, poets, theorists, and any other interesting creatives we come across on this journey. My passion has always been the arts and nature and I love nothing more than combining the two. Bringing artists together is something I do naturally, to as varied an audience as possible, through local and national exhibitions. I have instigated many exhibitions in unusual places, from small traveling galleries to pop-ups in disused buildings and art exhibitions in Commercial spaces.
