About The Artwork
This Photography is available in a limited edition of 25 only. The Photo was taken of the great Torii at Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima, Japan. The great Torii is the boundary between the spirit and the human worlds. In the light of the sunset, the gate blends into the landscape, merging with the mountains in the background into a single silhouette in front of the setting sun. The feather clouds appear to rise from the gate as a fine veil in front of the sunset. The photo shows one of the rare mystic moments in which a man made object, the gate, enters into a dialog with the beautiful natural scenery of the sunset. None of the two would be more beautiful without the other. The original material is a photo slide, taken with a Nikon F-301, which I then digitalised. The photography "Miyajima sunset" won a Special Recognition Award in the Photography & Digital Category of the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's 6th Annual “SeaScapes” Art Competition 2016

Being outside in nature is a great source of inspiration, and the photos taken during trips are the basics that I transform into paintings in my studio. My acrylic or oil paintings feature sceneries of the real world in a figurative, realistic style. The main element that continues to fascinate me is the colour blue in all its possible facets and shades. It is a fundamental element in almost all of my paintings. My aim is to capture on canvas the emotions hidden behind the sceneries and to inspire the viewer to immerse into the light and atmosphere of this very special moment.
