The garden landscape depicted in the first two image frames is pervaded by a thick layer of morning mist, causing the subject matter to become almost indistinguishable. The title ‘Mostly Mist’ refers to the actual mist that is featured in the photographs, as well as to the notion of mist as a metaphor for the ambiguous nature of the subject matter in the imagery. It becomes less about what is represented (i.e. the garden) than about the formal relationships between colour, line, shape and form. These formal properties are the manner in which the image fragments (from separate times) have been arranged onto the one pictorial space. The incompleteness of the image adds to the notion of the fragment as a representation of what was once whole. It emphasizes that the photograph is a record of just a frame of time that was once experienced as pure time. The soft light and pastel color palette aim to lure in the viewer and remind us of these mellow romantic themes. Archival Inkjet Print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Edition of 5 + 2 AP
