Napoleon had an extensive impact on the modern world, bringing liberal reforms to the numerous territories that he conquered and controlled, especially the Low Countries, Switzerland, and large parts of modern Italy and Germany. He implemented fundamental liberal policies in France and throughout Western Europe. This portrait was shot on assignment for a behind-the-scenes shoot for a local historic cinema production. Napoleon is all serious, looking out of frame to the left, while his horse looks directly at the camera in a mischievous and almost laissez-faire way, as if about to be up to something...

William was born in Malta in 1972 and spent his early childhood years in London, England as his family had moved to Bethnal Green, where they lived for seven years before relocating back to the sunny island in the Mediterranean in 1979. The seeds for his passion for photography were planted when his older sister gave him a Kodak Instamatic camera loaded with film for his 6th birthday. He proceeded to the back garden and his first-ever photos were shot on that day; those first photos are still cherished and kept safe in an old photo album, even if the colours have slightly faded away due to age.
