Never Alone Photograph

This work is from a series of photographs called “Playing Grown Up”. Using miniature dolls and sets placed on fairy tale backdrops I create narratives drawn on personal history and socio/political commentary. The contradiction of good and evil inherent in fairy tales makes a perfect backdrop for the narratives that are not what they seem to be at first glance. “Playing Grown Up”, refers to memories and stories of childhood and adolescent experiences from an adult point of view and adulthood from a child’s point of view. I am attempting to create a dichotomy between the playfulness of the sets that I create and the reality of what is occurring in the pictures.
