Hi! My Name is Chris, and I am a Los Angeles and New York based photographer. Photography is a way for me to document the people and places around me, and to to interact with the world's smallest details. I try to make people think twice about the daily occurrences and places they overlook. There is beauty in everything. Whether it's capturing the rhythm of someone walking briskly against a dilapidated wall, or the way the light hits the crumbling paint edges of that building. The result is the beauty of that moment. A moment that will never exist again outside of what is captured. I am engaging with space, dimension and time. I want to take photographs that draw out emotions that help connect the viewer into a specific moment in time, regardless of whether it's a past, present or future moment. My choice of subject comes from my desire to connect with the world around me. My life is a constant study of those who wander in and out of my life, day by day. I try to capture subtle ironies of life. I like capturing urban landscapes, along with their inhabitants. People who live in the city oftentimes move so rapidly they are unaware of all of the beauty and color that surround them. More recently, I have begun to focus more on evoking emotion through lighting and composition. The contrast between light and dark can be breathtaking. Also, the absence of color allows for exploration into the depth of shadows. I am exerting more control over becoming the creator of the stories and emotions I try to convey. My most recent compositions are geared towards the viewer drawing on personal experience to bring life to my work. I began studying photography at Pitzer College, where I began shooting film. I later studied at Orange County's Irvine Art Center, under world renowned photographers.
