Photomontage created with photographs of lit windows. which were all taken by the artist in Autumn and Winter 2014/15 in Hackney and Stoke Newington, London. Windows, especially lit windows, have been a subject and fascination of mine for a long time. The idea for this collage was conceived in Summer 2014. This was in part inspired by the Hitchcock movie "Rear Window". "A lighted window can bring comfort to the outsider, a feeling that somewhere there's a haven in the cold damp night, but of course we know that they could be portals to households of discontent, the variations of which are limitless." Critic Kent. This is a limited signed edition of 10 prints. Fine art Ciclée prints will be printed on Hahnemuehle Baryta - are signed and numbered on back- unless otherwise requested and come with a 1.0 cm border to make mounting easier. Various mounting options are available on request. I'm also making available a limited media edition of 10 signed prints on photo paper. These are sized at 60 cm x 45 cm - prices for these smaller prints are $350.00 - if mounting is requested the costs will be added to the price.

"Photography took me on a journey and just wouldn't let me go and it became a bit of an obsession. I believe one has to follow ones heart in photography. It should be a free exploration of anything that catches ones attention. As my journey is taking me to very different places I decided to split myself into two: Katja Lichtermeer is the artist and Katja Heber is an editorial and set photographer (just dispel any confusion). Katja Lichtermeer's inspiration comes mainly from her immediate environment, experiences and encounters and feature various subjects and situations. She uses photography to comment on the human condition. Topics she touched on include impermanence, uncertainty, showing mundane detail in a new light and catching fleeting moments to give them some appreciation. She has been located mostly in London. Further influences come from film, art, philosophy, and of course, photography. One of her themes consists of finding images that naturally occur within our modern- day city environment that are reminiscent of great masters or art movements. Initially she rarely chose to digitally alter images but she has started to experiment with photomontage and the manipulation of images. And she has also started painting and shooting videos. Katja Lichtermeer was born in Germany, but London has been her home for most of her life. All art on this site is copyrighted.
