Have you ever seen oil and water together? Science will tell you the bonds specific to each liquid keep them from breaking the bonds and mixing together. In human terms, I call this, “Immiscible Opulence”. That is, the beauty of the water-like diamonds is, by society’s standards, not supposed to mix with skin filled with melanin. But, have you ever seen oil and water together? Scientists can say what they please about these elements not mixing together, but have you watched them together? They are absolutely beautiful. Watching the oil slide through the water, shifting shapes while rising and falling in the container. Now, watch our skin and how the diamonds interact with it. The beautiful contrast of beautiful, dark, matte skin, accented by the most prestigious diamonds in the world. This series is two fused into one, with jewels added on a second shoot, so as to create a 3-D effect and emphasize the separation of the oil and water. Taken with model Andrea in Paris, France, with jewelry from the haute joaillerie collection. DeMarcus is a self-taught African-American fashion photographer based in Paris, France. His journey has taken him from professional football, to working in the American prison system, to the United Nations, and on to fashion photography. He has worked with clients including ELLE, L'Officiel, Harper's Bazaar & Numéro magazines, as well as Galeries Lafayette, Sonia Rykiel, Elie Saab, Nike, Sotheby's and others. His background as an athlete gives him a better understanding of human kinetics in terms of subjects, and an ability to capture the intersection of athleticism and grace. His work represents a view of a Black American man, a view of beauty and luxury formed between urban environments of America and the luxury world of Paris. DeMarcus has an eye for classic beauty, merged with a deep understanding of human agility and athleticism. His style is spontaneous and raw, yet intentional. In 2021, DeMarcus produced, photographed, and released his first book, NITA: An Impossible Dream. To date, this book has sold in 14 countries worldwide.
