About The Artwork

OLD WOODEN HOUSES THAT HAVE BEEN NONE FOR A LONG TIME • 1983-1986 Astrakhan, Russia These old houses of the times of the Russian Empire, and indeed the entire street (almost) by local authorities, were destroyed in the 80-90s of the last century. In their place are faceless nine-story apartment buildings. Everything is gray and sad ... • In the nineties, this vintage print was printed in a dark room on matte paper - cardboard. • The photo print has a wide white frame around the perimeter and a dark thin frame made by a ruling pen (artistic ink) • The print has been retouched by the author, and has a finished look. • The print has a very good state of preservation, as it was kept in the box all this time. • The edges of the paper were slightly fuzzy. I trimmed these edges off a little, and now the print looks good. • Signed in Russian on the back with a pencil • Paper size: 29.5 x 38 cm (11.6 "x 14.9") • Image size: 23.5 x 33 cm (9.2 "x 12.9") • Condition: Perfect preservation for a print from that period. CIRCULATION: 4/15 This print actually looks a little lighter than the listing shows. The level and quality of my gelatin silver prints can only be appreciated by holding them in your own hands. On the computer screen, we have some idea only ...

I started taking photographs and printing photographs in a dark room as a boy since 1970. In early 1979, I was already working as a professional photographer, and parallel, I got carried away with creative photography, I photographed for myself what I like. Most often it is an old town, old houses, details of old architecture, a person in an urban environment, nature. For me, photography is, first of all, Art photography, i.e. photography as an independent work of art. A good photo for me falls into two categories, it is a photo with a meaning, or with a mood. Yes, a photograph without any meaning, but which conveys the mood to us. And great luck when these two qualities are present in one work.
