On The Bog (as they say in Ireland) - Limited Edition 1 of 25 Photograph

The Bog has always been part of Irish life in the midlands of Ireland, These Boglands are roughly 5000 years old and are made of Turf/Peat. The Turf or Peat in this image is used as fuel for a local power plant, during the summer it is harvested into huge mounds and covered with black plastic to protect it from the winter weather and to stop it being blown away. I have photographed the bogs of the midlands of Ireland extensively as I am not sure that they will be used for fuel much longer as cheaper means of energy are already here and there is also pressure to protect Irish Bogland and give it back to nature. Black and white works well with this subject although I have produced some great colour work out of the Bog. I hope you will enjoy this image for many years.
