About The Artwork

For this innovative approach to oyster farming it is important to employ teeny-tiny oyster fishers and small, shallow-bottomed boats when harvesting oysters in flooded abandoned Chinese farmhouses. Oysters raised in a domestic environment are surprisingly docile and will readily open their shells if they are gently stroked, unlike their wild counterparts who can often be quite lethal. Greatest dangers to workers in this profession, however, are open drains and hungry feral cats. 2010. Photographie composite.
