About The Artwork

This series of photographs are double exposures using architectural motifs and pictures of building façades, inspired by traditional European and specifically Portuguese stained glass medieval artwork, used in churches and places of cult in general, to instill inner peace, reclusion, meditation, and reflection. The abstract and intricate nature of these photos is intended to stimulate a non-tiring and peaceful atmosphere, whilst simultaneously inviting a continuous exploration of the work and of its intricate patterns to discover and rediscover, new perspectives and aesthetic proposals. I use the patented Diasec stratification method, mounted on solid aluminum "opaque dibond sandwich", for incomparable rigidity, gloss finish (acrylic), contrast, image depth, UV protection and longevity of my photos. These photos are available in both standard and bespoke dimensions, on request.

Biography Born September 1958, Jorge Possollo started his path in photography at the age of 12, using his father's Voigtlander camera and teachings. During the following years, he started his training in developing and amplifying analog photography in the private laboratory of António Sena da Silva, renowned designer, architect, artist, photographer, pedagogue and entrepreneur, who acted as his teacher of photography techniques, inspired him to continue, actively influencing various dimensions of his personality. He became an avid photographer, exploring hidden angles, experimenting several techniques and discovering the new possibilities which became available with the technological evolution of the 'medium'. During the 80's and the first half of the 90's, he became Assistant Teacher of Geology in Lisbon University, teaching Chrystallography, Mineralogy and Economic Geology, whilst taking an MBA in in Lisbon. In spite of a subsequent and intense professional career in international business management positions, which led to a decade long of travelling between London, New York, Madrid and Koeln, he never forfeited his passion for photography and made a first solo exhibition in 2011, with a set of 30 photos, in which he explored the distorting light effects of urban reflections in various cities around the world. He currently resides in Lisbon, where he works as a management consultant and Management Board advisor, and pursues his activities linked to photography, producing mainly large format Diasec photographs.
