Panorama 1 Photograph - Limited Edition of 1

'Panorama 1' is a digital collage composed with multiple original photographs of the sea and the waves off the coast of Norfolk, in the west of the UK. It si part of thecollection 'Water'. The image is printed directly onto brushed aluminium. The silver surface of the brushed aluminium is especially visible in the brighter areas of the print and gives the image an interesting roughened texture. The inks are also UV cured which protects the artwork from sunlight, contaminants, and moisture, and so makes them suitable to hang in bathrooms and protected outdoor areas. The print has hanging rails on the reverse which make it stand out 1.5cm from the wall, thus giving the print a more solid 'sculptural' feel. It is ready to hang. There are 6 in this edition. 'Water Collection' is an ongoing investigation into the Sea and other places where water occurs. I am interested in studying the forms and patterns that water makes as it moves rapidly to meet the land or other objects, and how the light contributes to its qualities. I am interested in expressing the experience of being in the presence of the water over a period of time, observing how it constantly moves and changes. This suggests interesting questions of duration and the subtleties of changes. Instantaneous rapid shots of moving water can show forms that are unavailable to human vision, but long exposures can equally reveal something specific to photography. As with all my work, I consider the presentation of each image as part of the process. The image as object. I present my images as series where each image resonates with the other, or as individual, more sculptural pieces. I work on various paper surfaces, on metal, and with stitch. I use and combine both analogue and digital processes seeking alternative ways of seeing, framing and presenting objects, places and experiences.
