Polvere #010 - Limited Edition of 3 Photograph

The images have been realized inside an underpass in the centre of Florence, in 2018 and in the following years. They reproduce billposting spaces and advertising posters that aren’t used anymore, where time, smog and the continuous passing of cars left a mark, changing them completely. The only remainders are details and fragments of images and texts, that rewrite almost completely the image and meaning for which they have been created and posted up. The superimposition and transformation provoked by time and atmospheric agents add new elements to these posters; almost as if it wanted to extend the life of the messages, the fantasy transforms such fragments, making then different and new. As if they were thought, designed, printed, and posted up in the spaces dedicated to them. From that moment, an uncontrollable transformation process begins, triggered off by time and external agents - such as water seepages in the underpass - as well as by the effect of the smog derived from the passage of the uncountable means of transport that everyday flow near such posters. Probably, the original works will continue their natural transformation, in a sort of permanent exhibition accessible by everybody. In the meantime, their reproductions will undergo new and different transformations. After having been digitized through a camera, developed, touched up and converted into definitive files, they will be ready for a new printing, becoming works of art and digital publications on the Internet, through the modern ‘posting up’ methods. They will find their new place on the walls, after having been reassembled, recreated, and overwritten by the artist’s intervention and fantasy, in order to return such posters transformed by time their original function: conveying messages.
