About The Artwork
In the 16th and 17th century artists from Northern Europe would travel to Italy to study Renaissance Art and search for the remains of Ancient Rome. They would make drawings of Roman Ruins, Cityscapes, Monuments and the Roman Countryside. Based on these drawings Jochem Schoneveld set out photographing the city of Rome and its surroundings.

Jochem Schoneveld (Holland, 1973) is a photographer whose work is characterized by a focus on the human-altered landscape. His work has been exhibited at fotofestivals like “Fotografia, Festival Internazionale di Roma” , several galleries in Italy and Holland and published in international journals like the French “Le Monde”. He is a lecturer of Photography at John Cabot University in Rome.
