About The Artwork

In the series ‘presence’, my desire is to provide an open viewing experience, allowing space for personal involvement and suggestion. the photographic images portray unfamiliar depictions of their subject matter, moving more toward capturing the essence of the subject, the interiority of its existence. by applying a more contemplative approach to both the medium of photography and the natural environment, i strive to make images that possess unique stories untold by the reality they capture. to heighten this sensation, an added layer of encaustic has been applied to the surface of the images – both lending structural depth, as well as figurative links to memory, the passage of time, and notions of fading existence.
