About The Artwork
On a pleasant fall day in Sonoma County, California, I was on a walk in the woods at Riverfront Regional Park with my two boys. We enjoyed the quietude and calmness of the woods, the only sounds coming from the many bird songs and the play of my kids. As the sun moved lower in the sky, it cast long thin strips of light on the forest floor as it found gaps in the dense canopy of redwood trunks. The forest floor burst in a burning coppery glow. I found my subject - this upright leaf - and got down on the ground, trying my best to capture the burst of light. I found this quote inspiring: "These woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep." -Robert Frost
