About The Artwork

The three pictures were taken seconds away during a thunderstorm, at night, in the Pyrenees. The various angles of light made it easier to stage a bombing in this region prone to thunder. The text used here to illustrate the image is an account of the Blitz. The resonance between the text and the image participates in the comparison between the most violent period of modern History and the next.

Born and raised in the French Alps, where I cultivated a strong fascination for the concept of the sublime. This hasn’t left me along my studies in English linguistics, during which I honed my art like a foreign language, with its specific grammar, lexicon and invariants. Yet, the sublime being by nature unspeakable and elusive, my work consists in defining the terms of a pragmatic grammar allowing the emergence of the sublime, and in analysing its aesthetical, ethical and political consequences.
