The work was inspired by a lifelong fascination with architecture and architectural ruins. This was an ink drawing which I photographed on archival paper to enhance the texture and richness of the image. I see it as an iconic, dreamlike, symbolic representation of the decay of our physical structures, our bodies and our earthly existence, with the remains retaining an evocative reminder of much more.

Grew up in New Haven, CT, and had a lifelong interest in drawing and especially architectural design. I attended Oberlin College, where I studied Art History and Printmaking. After college I began photographing, and eventually found my way to watercolor and drawing. I'm now living in the Berkshires, MA. Have been making art for nearly 30 years. I'm married to a fine cabinetmaker who now makes harps and we live in a rural area where we both have our studios at home. I also have a summer gallery on-site. We enjoy playing music together and live a quiet, creative life.
