It is a route that is visited by pilgrims from Spain and many other countries in the world to reach the city of Santiago de Compostela, where the relics of the apostle Santiago el Mayor are venerated. José Martínez was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, in 1962, he lives and has his photo studio there. He´s a professional fine art and advertising photographer, he started his carrier back in 1983 under the tutelage of the photographers Mr. Dominique Sudre and Ms. Susan Chaurand. His artistic influences come from masters like Irving Penn, Cartier-Bresson, Chema Madoz etc. He´s known for his conceptual work, José likes to photograph what most people do not see or just overlook. He has a working method where he draws, sketches the idea and then translates it into photographic images. He has been in workshops and worked with photographers, like George Tice, Joan Foncuberta, Craig Stevens, Julio Galindo, Elizabeth Opalenik, Gabriel Figueroa among others. José has won awards like the honorific mention in the Nikon's photo contest issue, at Tokyo, Japan, selected by the Group “See/Me” to present part of his work in the Louvre Museum in Paris France, mention and participation at the Aella photo festival in Paris France, honrific mention at Tokyo Japan by the TIFA (Tokyo International Foto Awards) among other things. He has in his Photo history many exhibitions some collectives and some individuals, he has exhibited his work in galleries as well as museums and in places such as Mexico, USA, Cuba, France, Germany. Collections that include José´s work: The Zapopan´s Museum of Art (MAZ) the private collection of Dr. José Lopéz MD, the museum of photojournalism of GDL and the Jalisco´s Photographic Library.
