About The Artwork

The German word "Rummel" is ambiguous. It describes fairgrounds as well as colourful hustle and bustle and excitement. I wanted to get closer to this world that was foreign to me: Rummel: just a backdrop, a Potemkin village? What is hidden behind the colourful facades? What do visitors experience? Transformation for a few hours, a time-out from everyday life. If you block out the loud and brightly coloured hustle and bustle, a quiet aesthetic develops. The world behind the scenes is beige. It tells of a city on wheels. Of showmen and women who try to make themselves at home behind the scenes for a while and create a little distance from the action.

Living in Stuttgart, Germany Working in graphic design and lecturing at a university of applied science. In my art work I deal with layers of all kinds, with surfaces and what lies behind. These layers can be visible or tangible. Or they develop while looking closely or remembering moments long gone. My fotos show what I see. They're neither planned nor constructed. Only in my long-term project "Everyones single life" I work with the cross-fading of memories, which long after the real event lead to something completely new. Meine Fotos zeigen, was ich sehe.
