About The Artwork

The inspiration for this photograph arose from a profound appreciation for the intersection of public space, political expression, and cultural heritage. Amidst the fervor of a protest in Berlin, my gaze was drawn towards the distant silhouette of the Siegessäule monument, illuminated by the fading light of day. Inspired by the juxtaposition of activism and historical symbolism, I sought to capture the essence of this transformative moment in the city's collective consciousness Crafted with sensitivity and insight, this photograph employs the medium of digital photography to convey the nuanced interplay of light and shadow at dusk. The choice of medium allows for the capture of subtle details and atmospheric nuances, ensuring that every element of the scene is rendered with clarity and depth. The style embraces elements of documentary realism and artistic interpretation, inviting viewers to engage with the image on both a visceral and intellectual level. The subject matter of this photograph, the Siegessäule monument amidst a protest at dusk, was chosen for its symbolic resonance and historical significance. As a symbol of victory and triumph, the monument stands as a testament to Germany's complex history and ongoing struggles for social justice and democracy. By capturing its distant silhouette amidst the tumult of protest, I sought to explore the tension between past and present, memory and activism, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring legacies of the past in shaping our collective future. This poignant artwork is printed on archival paper, ensuring exceptional quality and longevity. It comes ready to hang with included hardware, allowing for immediate display and contemplation. Explore the intersection of history and activism with this evocative photograph that invites viewers to navigate the complexities of the urban landscape and the ever-changing currents of social transformation.

Rylee Vincent is a self taught artist from Alberta, Canada. Rylee’s artworks stem from many different worldly topics that she finds to be rich in thought, knowledge, and power. She emphasizes the artworks messages and presence by working on large canvasses as they dramatize the subjects and allows for enhanced detail. The use of black and white mediums allows for a simple and cohesive piece and aids in dramatizing the piece as well. These large scale black and white artworks are Rylee’s primary focus and are created with her preferred mediums of charcoal and graphite. Rylee occasionally uses other mediums to branch out and further her artistic skills. She uses oil paint and her love for cinematography and film to let loose and focus on a more relaxed and fun style of art, doing these quick paintings of famous movies and tv scenes allows Rylee to switch things up and return to her black and white artworks with new eyes. Furthermore, Rylee uses photography to further her artists eye in composition, lighting, and depth while exploring and sharing the worlds beauty. (These experimental pieces are available as prints).
