Internationally awarded fine art photographer in the category of black and white architectural photography. By studying a wide variety of techniques related to photography and the diverse possibilities of professional post-processing, Maik Koerhuis has specialized in artistic architectural photography in recent years. He is particularly fascinated by the reduction of architecture to its minimalist forms and structures. He increases this by exclusively processing the images in black and white. It is important for him not to photograph the object as realistically as possible, but to create his own individual works of art through the post-processing workflow. He tries to pay attention to shapes and graphic elements when selecting his objects. In particular, through the conscious manipulation of light and shadow, he emphasizes the forms through his artistic way of processing. With his type of post-processing, he wants to draw and inspire the viewer into his artificial world. With these artistic architectural images created in this way, he has been able to win various prizes and awards at international photo competitions in recent years. Among other things, he was honored as "Architecture Photographer of the year" at the "Moscow International Foto Award 2020", and came second in the PX3 photo competition "Prix de la Photographie, Paris", at the "Budapest International Foto Award 2022" and at the "Tokyo International Photo Award 2022".
