This is a signed 16x24 photograph with small white border Smaller prints and open edition prints are also available. I am not a morning person, especially in the winter. But very early one morning I wasn't feeling well, so I thought a bit of fresh air would do me good. I took my dog out with me, and sat on one of the benches on the Commonwealth Mall near the Boston Public Garden. As I sat, I saw the early morning sky cast a direct light through the trees, revealing the fog. I noticed the statue closest to me had a prominent shadow. Looking past it towards the Public Garden, the George Washington statue stood in the distance. In the light it looked like Washington and his horse were riding in my direction to meet the other statue - hence the title. I didn't have my camera that day, but was impressed by what I saw, and woke very early four days in a row to capture it. The fourth and last day I took pictures, the light was right, and I laid on the cold ground and took many photos, from different angles. This was my favorite.

I am an artist by necessity. I wake up every day with a constant craving to create. Art is the way I see, understand and relate to the world. I’ve lived my life mainly exploring two creative mediums, photography and abstract art. Photography is essentially an outdoor activity for me and my companion, my dog Oliver. He jauntily explores new smells of the city while I walk in wonder, and connect with my camera. Looking through my photographs, you may notice I don’t have a primary subject of focus, and few of my photographs include people. Instead, most of my photography explores the union of urban life and nature, because I feel in that intersection a striking resonance, and a diverse expression and range of life in all its forms. Cities don’t always conjure up an immediate image of solitude and grace where nature and noise overlap, but in that apparent conflict I have always felt a harmony that keeps me going, and inspires me creatively. I hope that in my photography you can feel the peace and contentment that I experience in its creation.
