I have been behind a camera for over 50 years. When I first started taking photographs all those years ago steam locomotives were in abundance. Now only a few exist and are kept in first-class condition. They are run on main-lines as well as preservation railways.
recently in the UK a new steam locomotive named the Tornado was built to the same specification as the originals. I captured this photographic pop art image of the Tornado on the first run of a steam locomotive as a main line hauled steam train in 50 years as it was passing Ais Gill Summit in north Yorkshire.
