About The Artwork

I stood on the almost deserted Luskentyre beach and watched as a storm developed over the Sound of Taransay, and the island itself. There is something fundamental in the human soul that craves to relinquish the trappings of everyday life and connect with the wild and the free. Only earth, water and wind existed here...a combination of extraordinary colour, crashing waves and howling wind...a powerful experience that rendered me fairly speechless and reminded me in no uncertain terms of my place in the world. I chose to obscure the details in this image, preferring instead to provide merely an overall impression of the scene...this time in monochrome. The image is printed on Pinnacle Premium Lustre 300gsm paper (which is both acid-free and archival), using pigment-based inks, and including a half-inch white border. It is signed and numbered, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is despatched in a tube. Please allow up to two weeks for the preparation process before dispatch.

I was born in the county of Yorkshire, England, and grew up in the north east of the country. From the age of ten, when my father bought me my first camera (a Kodak Brownie 620), I have always been interested in taking photographs. Since leaving university I have moved around the country and travelled extensively worldwide, and now reside in the county of Rutland, England. A few years ago I took photography up more seriously, and now devote much of my time to it. I have undertaken various photographic courses and workshops, both in the UK and abroad. I belong to a local photographic society, and have had much success in competitions. My work has been exhibited over the last few years in our society exhibitions. I have an eclectic interest in photographic subjects, which, at times, leans towards landscapes. I am interested in developing fine art photography.
