This image was taken on a tour of India ’the triangle’ - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur. Having never visited India before, every sense was ‘arrested’ on arrival - the sounds, the smells, the colours… The Taj Mahal was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631 as a memorial to his wife who died giving birth to their 14th child. I looked for a different way to photograph this well-documented monument and found that sunset gave the inspiration for this detail silhouette image. I hope it conveys the peace of this beautiful place - one of man’s greatest monuments of love.
