Tepid Baths - Limited Edition of 10 Photograph

This photograph is part of a photographic survey of Auckland public swimming pools, aesthetically highlighting the pools intrinsic value beyond their purely practical use. The project was an acknowledgement and appreciation of the swimming facilities maintained and accessible to the public, but it also records the beauty and allure they have as spaces in their own right. When venturing to the local community pool, whether it is in my own local area or as a tourist, I have often felt a unique sense and character of a place, reflective of the community itself. As well as artistically documenting the sense and character, the project records how public places change with the passing of time and with the needs of the community. By capturing how these facilities looked at the start of a new century, a precious archive has been created. This photograph was shot with a large format camera on 4x5” transparency. The large size of the resulting transparency has exceptional image clarity and quality. Photographic high-gloss color print.
