About The Artwork

“She ran toward the water; it took her breath, but also her worries.” This photo is part of my Pacifica collection, which captures moments on the Pacific coast, where life flows freely from water to wood to sky. Through movement and a blurring of reality, these images reflect a world where the human imprint is fleeting and nature prevails. Calm and silent, powerful and deliberate, life here pulses steadily onward in surging tides, growing forests and ever-changing horizons. This is a limited edition Giclee print (1 of 5, plus 2 AP) on 100% cotton archival fine art paper. The print is numbered and signed in the white border below the photo, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The actual photo is 8 x 12 inches, with a white border on all sides bringing the total size of the paper to 12 x 16 inches. My artistic process focuses on transforming my surroundings into new scenes that straddle the worlds of abstraction and reality. My work is highly manual with minimal post-processing. With a motion-based technique incorporating deliberate camera movements, I use my camera to pull out colours, shapes and textures from the scene before me and weave them into a new world of my making.

I love the sense of adventure and exploration that photography offers. I particularly enjoy experimenting with motion and blurring in my photos to create images that combine abstract and figurative elements. I strive to fuse colour, texture and movement to create photographic compositions that spark emotions. Knowing that different viewers will have their own unique response and interpretation is part of the joy that I derive from my work. I view every photo as a glimpse into a moment, a scene and a world where life is happening. I often write a snippet of narrative to accompany each photo to share my vision of the story and possibilities behind it. Presented without a broader context, these pairings of image and narrative invite viewers to pick up these threads and continue the story in whatever direction their imagination takes them.
