PRINT DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The Edge of the World" I'm a great fan of the Joshua Tree National Park and this shot was taken on the Split Rock trail. While the diversity in rock formations is nearly endless, it's always a challenge to procure the right composition. Here the clouds in the sky set up for a great contrast to the ominous nature of rock formations. We are drawn into the landscape via a fault line that dramatically separates two of these. The upper and lower parts are delineated by darker shades of monochromatic tones. I created this by a conversion to black and white and then tinting the overall image to bring out these subtleties. The solar like flares of the clouds set it off. PRINT DETAILS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This print will be signed & numbered on a 2” border and will include a Certificate of Authenticity. The image will be printed using archival inks and Moab Somerset Enhanced Velvet Fine Art Paper, 255gsm, 100% Cotton, Textured White, Mould-Made. This natural white paper produces deep, rich blacks with an unparalleled color gamut. The archival 100% cotton heavyweight paper has a smooth surface with a velvety fine art touch. Brandon LeValley (1954) is a photographic artist from the United States. In 1976 he graduated from Washington State University where his Bachelor’s Degree included Art studies. He’s always had a passion for photography. That desire was fueled early in life when he was still shooting film and utilizing a darkroom to process images. Holding a final print offered a world of experience seeing how the light on a subject materialized. Years later he realized the digital camera had revolutionized processing. Today, he converts most images to black and white and often shoots botanicals for their dramatic lines and shape. He’s also drawn to architecture and landscapes. Living near Joshua Tree National Park provides many dramatic configurations that come from his explorations. While his journey in photography has evolved, it’s often ignited by striking lighting. He’s fascinated by the abstract and uses every tool to achieve a finished composition. A unique image, he believes, comes about by a disciplined and oftentimes exhaustive approach. Knowing the payoff can be rewarding, that commitment to detail ultimately renders a more compelling work.
