The Flower of Acceptance Photograph

'The Flower of Acceptance' - from my illustrated book, The Bright Light of Dream Stars: “This is The Flower of Acceptance. The sharp thorns deter people from approaching this plant. Those who have the courage to reach in among the thorns, will discover the flower has a deep fragrance that calms the mind." Acceptance is symbolised in this art work by a flower, surrounded with thorns. We naturally avoid the things in life that cause us pain or discomfort, but if we can accept the things that we may not be able to change, it can make our lives much easier. Acceptance requires common sense, some things need to be challenged, but other things we can learn to let go of and give ourselves permission not to worry about. The image is a digital collage, made with several hundred of my photos. Each element in the photos has been cut-out and merged and painted over and altered until the final work looks looks like a hybrid photograph and painting.
