About The Artwork

February 2021 Photography has always been part of who I am. My great-grandfather, who to support his young family, began taking passport photos for the Polish immigrant community in the south end of Stamford, Connecticut. He realized that with some creativity he could enhance the features of his subjects by carefully adding eyelashes and color to make those black and white headshots much more appealing. The idea worked because his studio soon became the place to go when you wanted to preserve your image and that of your legacy. Like my great-grandfather, and my grandfather, a WWII aerial photographer and portrait photographer, I began to experiment with photography as a teen with self-portraits. In 2017, through the encouragement of my aunt, also an artist, decided to travel to London to devote myself to photography. During this time, I attended Central Saint Martins striving to say more through my images. My vision and voice took shape with my blurry motion as a powerful statement for me as a deaf artist as I attempt to create empathy through uncertainty. As an artist living through the world-wide pandemic, the time spent alone has forced me to feel my emotions and deal with my thoughts. I have adapted, endured and grown creatively. I would like to introduce my newest pandemic photography style an enhancement called, “The Fusion”.

"Blurry Motion" is about showing what it’s like to not hear well. As a deaf photographer, I use my camera to share how I experience sound—through sights, not sounds. These photos are not clear, much like how sounds are not clear to me. This project lets others see a bit of the deaf world, where sounds are replaced with visual feelings. I hope to make people think about how we all see and hear the world differently.
