In 1987 I was asked to photograph Shane McGowan as the Pogues were about to release a new record. I arrived with the journalist, beers were cracked open, a spliff was rolled then on a cassette they played 'A Fairy Tale Of New York'. We were blown away and now I realise that we were some of the very first people to hear this classic song. The reason behind the sullen faces of Spider and Shane is that later on the conversation turned onto the controversial subject of the Birmingham Six. The journalist was not knowledgable enough and made an error. Shane leapt up and grabbed him by the throat. Woah! I intervened and changed the subject but the atmosphere had changed. I took a few pictures, drunk some more Red Stripe whilst we talked about old American country blues, then left. Quite an experience! The photograph will be printed on Giclée matt photographic 315gsm high-grade paper, with a Sepia-Selenium tone. This paper renders very subtle tones and maintains quality to archival and exhibition quality standards. Please note this was taken on fast black and white 35mm film so is grainy, but more atmospheric for it. The print size is 22 x 14 which includes a one inch white border. Borders can be added and size increased as each print is made individually to order. Please feel free to ask questions or request any size alterations to this photograph.

I have been working as a photographer for over 40 years. Some of that time was spent working for music and architectural publications but my work now is personal. Some of it is 'street' photography, some of it landscape.
