Taken with an Olympus 4.3 at the Helsinki Airport as I transported from Finland to Iceland on 4 December 2016 I was immediately captured the moment I saw this – there was a kind of aura or warmth, so natural and real that requires almost nothing to do with the image afterward – the image was colour enhanced just a little bit to capture the feeling or tone as I saw what was happening and that’s it, I didn’t even crop it, what you see is what I saw at that every moment Two exposure combinations were quickly attempted when the image was taken. The other one was brighter and thus allowed the details to reveal more clearly and the image looked more realistic Here, the features of her face are more obscure, so the attention goes to the backlight outlining her

Interested in music, studied psychology, trained in visual communication. Edvard began taking images casually with his first SLR given by his father when he was about 11-12. Then, in search of identity, he explored different things, music, visual arts, and finally took up visual communication as his career. After exploring some Jungian stuff, he became interested in Buddhism in the mid-1990s, first Tibetan Buddhism, later Theravada Buddhism, and he started to learn meditation from the Thai Forest Tradition in early 2000s. Edvard became intested in taking pictures again as he art directed photography on commercial projects. He started to use digital camera and smartphone to capture moments that move him. He deliberately stay detached from what was commonly regarded as 'photography' and concentrated on capturing images that relate to everyday life and ordinary things that he found beautiful. In the early 2010s, Edvard’s mother was diagnosed with dementia. Taking care of a person who used to be active, hard working and was gradually losing memory made him reflect a lot about the process called ‘life’. Photography since then has become a means that he uses to reconnect to every here-and-now, sometime it's a sense of tranquility, sometime a sense of solitude. Although camera and smartphone with built-in lens are used to capture these images, he does not want to it photography, but barely images of the ordinary life, or mood images. Many of the images were taken with a Lenovo smartphone, they were originally processed and posted to Instagram. Some were taken with an Olympus 4/3 camera. A few of them were shot with a Nikon F2A the film camera that Edvard's father gave him and were scanned using professional scanner. They are printed and handled by Saatchi. Everyone will sooner or later forget all the faces that s/he has ever seen, things that s/he has done, moments that s/he has lived - these images too will not last eternally but hopefully by making them I leave a trace of my existence in this cyclic journey.
