A lot of the streets in Kathmandu are shining with saris a stylish trend that soon became the norm. The are hung from windows and many brides to be will go sit in the centre of the store whilst the owner cover her with saris of different style, material, colour but what is there for the men? I went in search of a suit with my uncle and inside a tunnel we went past the main street further in towards what seemed like a dead end but then what I found there was a barber shop smelling like early morning dhoop (incense) where a man was getting his fresh trim, there was music being played in the background, smokey air burning up past Ganesh poster and out of the colourful netted curtains that hid almost nothing but gave a bright yellow haze to a dead deceiving dark alley way. I asked the men if i could take their photo, they replied yes and smiled as i continued. This made me think about the men and beauty culture in Nepal. Realising that I barely saw any men shopping they were always on the other side selling. I wondered how hard must it be to be a man in Nepal where they are expected to show no interest in the "feminine stuff" but know about sarii and lengas and are made to work in a hard condition.
