ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In the late 1960s, long before this pathway ever existed as it is now, my Dad took a photo at sunset under the Hell Gate Bridge. I'd seen the shot a number of times, but when he mentioned earlier this year how he'd like to figure out the exact location and go shoot it again with his new Nikon z6 [he's now 87] I told him I'd try to find the locale -- and let him know . . . lo and behold, i found the spot, though it seems like it's changed a bunch since he shot it: namely the seawall, path and shoreline, the park area along the shore here a long-ago refurbished park. I went early in the morning, instead of the evening, shooting a bunch of shots down a ways of both the Triboro and Hell Gate, then coming down here to shoot under the Hell Gate -- with the Triboro / Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in the distance. The Hell Gate is a famous New York City railroad bridge, originally called the New York Connecting Railroad Bridge or East River Arch Bridge, and spans the Hell Gate, an East River strait between Astoria, Queens, and Randalls Island -- a stone's throw from LaGuardia Airport. It serves mostly Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains and freight and was painted purple when I was a kid, though that's long-faded now. Construction began in 1912; it opened in 1917. This limited edition of ONE was the test print for possible future offerings at other sizes on other papers -- and will be signed as a 1/1. This is offered on Hahnemuhle Fire Art Pearl and with borders measures 23 x 12.8 . . .

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I'm a national award-winning journalist and nine-time Pulitzer nominee who's made hundreds of TV and radio appearances, including NPR and Good Morning America. Author of Swee'pea [Simon & Schuster / Atria], a critically acclaimed book centered around New York City playground basketball legend Lloyd (Swee'pea) Daniels, I've been featured in several documentary films -- including the Emmy Award-winning ESPN 30-for-30 Big Shot. While I've worked primarily as a sports reporter, news reporter, columnist and investigative journalist, I've also done travel writing and photography during a four-decade career at a major New York daily paper, and I'm currently shopping my first novel. This marks my first foray into selling my fine art photography . . . P.S. I've noticed that when it comes to calling up full screen versions of some photos they appear to lack clarity. PLEASE use the "Original" file -- especially, when you're looking at Open Edition prints -- because those files appear to be proper large-scale renditions. Hoping this gets rectified . . .
