About The Artwork

Material: Archival pigment print, Hahnemühle - Photo Rag - Ultra Smooth – 100% cotton – 305 gram/m2 The work is digitally composed of more than 100 photographs which were taken from the summit of an electricity pylon. The image shows a transitional area with an electricity pylon in the middle. Around the pylon one sees undeveloped terrain which flows into natural terrain on one side and into industrial terrain on the other. The industrial terrain is part of the Europort area, the harbor of Rotterdam. The work reflects its own creation process. The vantage point from which the photographs were taken is an important visual element in the image. Fragments of the electricity tower jump through the center of the image. The shadow of the tower on which the photographer stands forms the center of the sphere. The center of the image is accentuated by the motorcycle tracks which circle around it. The work is also available in the size : 80 x 80 cm - Limited Edition of 1/10. $1,283 (Please, send a message if you for choose this option)

The works of Wouter van Buuren (the Netherlands, 1972) are reflections on the experience of space and time. Van Buuren explores new ways to represent the landscape and the experience of being in it and traveling through. The resulting works are collages of photographs which are often shot from high and hard to access locations. These locations include rooftops, bridges and electricity towers. Fragments of the vantage points are often present in the work. The collages are digitally composed but the image is never manipulated. Van Buuren’s work is layered in the sense that it does not only reconstruct the landscape but also reflects its own creation process. The work reflects on the notion of perception itself.
