In this series, I study my struggles with social isolation caused by my introversion. The creative process unexpectedly acted as therapy, enabling me to assess my condition from a new perspective and take the first step toward treatment. Additionally, the pandemic influenced my photography practice. I was challenged to be creative in complete isolation, leading to staged photography. This shift also included the concept in my work, where I speak about my own concerns rather than those of others. Explore the project further on: http://hossein.art/index.php/seclusion

Hossein Fardinfard (born in Iran in 1985) is an Amsterdam-based visual storyteller working across photography and videography. Hossein’s art career began with street photography. A web developer at the time, his exchanges with street photography subjects brought him into more meaningful dialogue with people he passed by every day. This phase of his career was inspired by the drive to experiment and explore questions of identity and social issues. Over time, his work evolved into his current focus—portrait and especially lunar photography. His portrait photography ties a thread to his earlier work, while his lunar photography represents a new area of exploration. This shift naturally unfolded as Hossein found his voice in photography, and, in a way, it served as a response to an urge to turn inward. Long intrigued by the contours of the Earth, Hossein holds a B.S. in Cartography, a B.A. in Information Technology, and an M.A. in Geomorphology. Feeling increasingly drawn to examine the human spirit, he went on to study at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, finishing his B.A. in Photography in 2022.
