VIEW IN MY ROOM
The striking Uvac River Gorge, in southwestern Serbia. In the foreground, sparse trees along a steep descent to the river strike a strange scale, simultaneously close yet distant, introducing a dissonance between conception and perception that continues throughout the composition. A few small boats navigate the river's famous "pinched meanders." Beyond, a series of landscapes present themselves, as if in an infinitely detailed child's diorama: dense forest, then farmland, and rolling hills climb to mountains at the horizon. Matching these differentiated topographies, and yet binding them together, is a sky of similarly disorienting diversity. This is from a limited edition of 30 prints, signed by the artist. Printed in Giclee process on Hahnemühle Torchon paper with aqueous ink. Torchon is an acid-free, all-organic, white archival paper with a slight texture. The pigment-based ink provides exceptional, museum-quality longevity and pairs with Torchon paper to deepen and enrich the blacks of monochrome photography. The photograph is printed with a border of approximately 2 inches, which serves to visually bound the photograph and allow for framing that displays the entire artwork. It also serves as space for the artist’s signature and edition number. This border is included in the stated dimension of the photograph.

United States
It was his work as a photographer that originally led Jovius to train as an architect and, subsequently, as an historian of architecture. He is a professor of architectural history in the United States, and his academic travel and research allow him to maintain a practice in fine art photography with the world’s constructed landscapes as his primary subject. His artwork addresses the palimpsestic character of urban and structural form, the subtle uncanny in architecture and urban experience, and the entwined and unsteady relationship between our formulations of the natural and of the artificial. He has exhibited his work in both solo and group exhibitions in New York and elsewhere, and his photographs have been featured in hundreds of publications.
